Teaching Tip of the Week: Short Box Abdominals- Fire Baton, breaking it down
Short Box Advanced Abdominals: Fire Baton, breaking it down
Much of the advanced Pilates repertoire is about more complex movement that plays with the balance between opposing muscle groups and strength versus mobility, all while supporting from the trunk muscles. In Fire Baton, we are working abdominals against back extensors and round spine versus neutral spine. We can break down the more elaborate choreography to make it easier to teach and for clients to follow. This is how we progress an exercise from smaller pieces of movement and layer them together until we have the full movement pattern. This means that your clients have time to work from the centre outward rather than just going through the shapes of the movement.
