Teacher Training Tip of the Week: Phrasing- Long Box Sequence
Phrasing: Long Box Sequence
Today we take you into one of our weekly Reformer classes! We have been working the Deep Longitudinal System with intentions of improving back extension and accomplishing Rocking on the Long Box. This little progression starts with a proprioceptive challenge: All fours on the Long Box, opposite arm to leg, then into a glute-hamstring-inner thigh combination, still on all fours. We move to a prone position on the box and strengthen the upper thoracic spine before strengthening the whole back body with swimming. To challenge the shoulder girdle we do Overhead Press (double & single arm) and a little "jumping". Swan, a quad stretch and Rocking (prep) finish off the sequence with the hopes of getting to full Rocking in the next weeks. Connecting exercises together in interesting phrases is a fun way to challenge your teaching skills and your class.
