Teacher Training Tip of the Week: Modifications for Single Leg Extensions
Modifications for Single Leg Extensions
This client has been struggling with some hip and knee instability. We have been working to strengthen her glutes and hamstrings in a comfortable and effective way. She has a difficult time lying completely prone or supine, so we've modified by putting her on the long box with a small head prop under her forehead for comfort and allowing her arms to be below her body. Today we are giving her "homework" to practice. She plans to do this on her coffee table/ ottoman or on the edge over her bed. One could modify this to standing with a neutral spine and leaning the arms on a higher surface like a countertop. • knee extension • knee and hip extension • knee and hip exemption with a hamstring curl Sometimes you need to think outside the box to help people move!
